This project we are working on represents an outstanding example of sustainable development that combines health care and self-financing. I will adapt the wording of our “vision” and “mission” to the nature of this project in Zanzibar.

The hospital is located in the Nungwi region in the north of the island of Zanzibar, a region with a high population density but which suffers from a severe lack of basic medical services.

Objectives of the hospital

Provide specialized healthcare

Integrated medical services to local communities suffering from a lack of healthcare, with a particular focus on maternal and child care, chronic disease management and infectious disease prevention.

Improving access to healthcare

Ensuring the availability of healthcare services close to communities in need to reduce the need for long trips to distant medical centers.

Promote public health

By providing primary and advanced health care and contributing to increasing health awareness and disease prevention.

    The hospital will provide advanced medical services to communities suffering from a lack of healthcare infrastructure, thereby helping to reduce the gap in access to healthcare between urban and rural areas.

    Mobile clinics can be established to reach remote and rural areas, serving as the first point of contact for citizens and referring cases requiring specialized care to the hospital in Nungwi.

To effectively implement this integration, the following steps can be taken: the development of a referral system, organization of training for healthcare personnel, and the establishment of mobile clinics in parallel with the progress of the hospital construction in Nungwi.
