Development of Livestock Farming in East Africa

This third project focuses on the development of livestock farming in East Africa. It is an important step not only in saving this sector from extinction but also in combating poverty and malnutrition in the region, which particularly affects children.

This project has the potential to significantly improve living conditions in East Africa by increasing livestock productivity and enhancing nutrition, leading to comprehensive economic and social development in the region.

Vision:

We aim to promote livestock farming in East Africa by introducing and developing improved breeds to combat poverty and malnutrition, thereby improving the living conditions of the population, particularly children suffering from hunger and malnutrition.

Mission:

Our mission is to save livestock farming in East Africa from extinction by introducing modern breeding techniques and improving local breeds through crossbreeding with high-quality European breeds, such as German and Dutch cattle. In collaboration with governments and civil society organizations, we will provide knowledge and support to improve milk and meat production, contributing to enhanced food security and combating poverty and malnutrition in the region.

Project Goals:

  • Save livestock farming in East Africa from extinction and improve its quality through crossbreeding with advanced European breeds.
  • Combat malnutrition and stunted growth in children by improving milk production and providing high-quality animal products.
  • Strengthen the knowledge and skills of local livestock farmers through training and technical support.
  • Increase the income of rural households by improving meat and milk production, thereby enhancing living standards.

Implementation Strategy:

  • Breed Selection:
Identify the best European breeds, such as German Fleckvieh and Dutch Holstein, that are compatible with the climate and environmental conditions in East Africa.

  • Training and Knowledge Transfer:
Organize workshops and training programs for local livestock farmers on modern breeding techniques and veterinary care.

  • Logistical Support:
Establish facilities to support crossbreeding and livestock farming, including infrastructure for the distribution of animal products.

  • Collaboration with Governments and International Institutions:
Work with government agencies and international organizations to facilitate the import of new breeds and ensure the necessary support for livestock farmers.
